Labor thanks Martin Bowles PSM for his service both at the Department of Health, and in his extensive public service career.
Mr Bowles has led the Department through a difficult period of Abbott/Turnbull Government cuts, uncertainty and absence of political leadership.
During this time, Labor has always appreciated Mr Bowles’ advocacy for the health of all Australians and his frank and fearless advice to the Government and the Parliament.
We look forward to working with Acting Secretary Mark Cormack and the permanent Secretary when appointed.
We wish Mr Bowles and his family all the best for the future.
