Reports that the Liberal party is fundraising by making donors pay for access to Chinese government officials raise serious questions about Turnbull’s integrity.
This is cash for access to foreign governments – and it stinks.
It reeks of hypocrisy for him to last week announce Foreign Interference Laws and then look the other way on this.
Turnbull must say how he can justify this event – and why Liberal Ministers are invited.
Turnbull’s own party room are describing this event as “concerning” and “bad timing”.
He’s effectively using the Chinese Government to fundraise for the Liberal Party. How many times has this happened before without anyone finding out?
If Turnbull fails to act on this it will prove that all his lecturing on foreign interference is just hypocrisy and not a serious attempt to protect Australia’s democratic process.
